This Gun Violence Task Force was created after hearing many of our local law enforcement professionals express the fact that law enforcement is not the only organization that needs to play a role in reducing gun violence.“We cannot arrest our way out of violence, nor can we social program our way out. Evidence points to both.”

VFW Post 3838, in partnership with The Wake Foundation, will host a Veterans Honor Flight Send-off Event on March 27, 2025, at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, to honor a group of 50 local veterans and their guardians embarking on a trip to Washington, DC, where they will visit national memorials and monuments dedicated to their service - all at no cost to them. Hosted by the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport and open to the public, this honorary flight was made possible through the generosity of Contour Airlines, which has donated two planes for the special occasion.
