Mecklenburg County, North Carolina
Founded November 6, 1762 from the western part of Anson County.
Named in commemoration of the marriage of King George III to Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelit.
It is the most populated county in North Carolina. The county seat and largest city is Charlotte.
