You don’t have to fill every search field. We recommend starting your search with a few names. If you get too many results with just a name search, enter a date range. Keep the date range broad unless you’re absolutely certain of the date.
Names for both applicants can be entered in any order, and capitalization does not matter. If we have John Smith and Jane Doe, a few possible searches are
- John Smith,
- smith john,
- JOHN SMITH JANE,
- Doe Jane John Smith
Middle names are often indexed as well, but should only be added if you're getting too many results. Special characters (e.g. hyphens, apostrophes, commas) will be ignored.
If you're unsure of how a name is spelled, enter as much or as little as you're certain of.
Example: Entering
Ashl will match names such as
Ashley,
Ashlie, and
Ashlyn.
