Giles County
Giles County was founded in 1809.
It was named in honor of Sen. William B. Giles, a Senator from Virginia who sponsored the admission of Tennessee as the sixteenth state into the Union.  He served in the U. S. Senate from 1804-1815, and was Governor of Virginia, 1827-1830.
