Vital Records
Birth, Death, and Marriage
The Town Clerk is the Registrar of Vital Records for the Town and can provide copies of all birth, death, and marriage records that are on file in the Clerk’s office. Princeton has vital records dating back to 1744.
Certified copies of birth, death, and marriage certificates are $10 for each copy.
You can request copies:
- in person at the Clerk’s office
- download one of the forms below and request copies by mail

Copies will be mailed to you. Every effort will be made to reply to your request on the day it is received, but the process may take up to 10 days.
If you are requesting an older record as part of a Genealogical search there may be an additional charge if some of the required information is not available and research is necessary.
If you order online or come to the Town Clerk's office you do not have to fill out the Request Form referenced below. The following records are available:
Births
Records are available for any person born in Princeton or whose parents were living in Princeton at the time of the birth. “Form to request a Birth certificate”
Deaths
Records are available for any person who died in Princeton or whose legal residence was the Town of Princeton at the time of death.“Form to request a Death certificate”
Marriage
Records are available for any couple who filed Marriage Intentions in Princeton whether or not the marriage took place in Princeton. If intentions were not filed in town then the Clerk’s office will not have the marriage certificate even if the couple was married in Princeton. If you filed Marriage Intentions in another Massachusetts community the Marriage License certificate would be filed with that community. “Form to request a Marriage certificate”
