The Town of Norfolk has a quarterly tax billing schedule for real estate. The tax billing year is based on a fiscal year and not a calendar year. The fiscal year is from July 1st to June 30th.  FY 2025 began July 1, 2024 and ends June 30, 2025. 

The first two tax bills for FY 2025 were Preliminary Bills, based on last year taxes. The Preliminary Bills are each approximately 1/4 of last year taxes plus the allowed 2.5%   The preliminary bills are issued July 1 and October 1 of each year.

The 3rd quarter tax bill also known as the FY 2025 Actual Tax Bill, will show the new assessment for FY 2025 and the new tax rate for FY 2025.  The actual tax bills are issued January 1 and April 1 of each year. Please note the FY 2025 assessments will be based on Real Estate Sales during calendar year 2023.

Please note the following Important Point: State law requires FY 2025 tax bills to reflect ownership as of Jan 1, 2024. For property purchased after Jan 1, 2024, the new owner's name will appear on the FY 2026 1st Quarter Tax Bill issued July 1, 2025.

This on-line data base is only updated periodically throughout a Fiscal Year.

PLEASE NOTE:  Property classification is based on current use of the property, as determined through inspection by a member of the Assessing staff.  It does not necessarily reflect compliance with current zoning or permitting requirements.  Owners, potential owners, and other interested parties should confirm allowed uses with the Building Commissioner and Director of Planning and Development.

The search results window will only display the first 10 records when using the "Address" search option (vacant lots are generally excluded from the search results window).  If you are searching for ALL parcels on a street or need to find a vacant lot, please be sure to use the "STREET LISTING" option located in the menu along the top of this page.  The vacant parcels will typically be located at the top of the list.  Be sure to check the end of the list if you do not see the street location that you are looking for, especially if the location includes an apartment or unit number.
