Established: 1813
Named for Joseph Warren
County Seat: Queensbury
Largest City: Glens Falls

In 1813, Warren County was established from Washington County, with Lake George, then known as Caldwell, designated as the county seat. The county is named in honor of General Joseph Warren, an American Revolutionary War hero of the Battle of Bunker Hill. In 1843 the courthouse and the county clerk's office burned down and a new courthouse was built. In 1959, the county seat was moved to Queensbury.
